Freemake Video Converter is a free program for converting video files. It contains no advertising, but asks to install additional programs such as DriverScanner, the Amazon browser and the TuneUp utility during installation; those who do not want this can disable the option.
The program handles many popular video formats, including DVDs, video camera formats (avi, mpg, death, avchd, mov, dv, rm), cell phone formats (3gp, 3g2), PC formats (wmv, mkv, qt, ts, mts), music formats (mp3, aac, wma) and photo formats (jpg, bmp, png) – in all more than 200 formats are supported.
Online videos from services such as YouTube, Facebook, MyVideo, MTV, Vimeo, Dailymotion and MegaVideo can also be converted. For this all it takes is to copy a video’s URL or select the video via the browser plug-in. More than 40 video portals are supported.
Multiple videos can be converted to a new format at once. If the target format is MP3, the program extracts only the audio track of the videos or DVDs and saves them in a new music file. Freemake Video Converter allows also the link to an account for online services such as YouTube or Facebook.
