NNTP (Network News Transport Protocol) is a TCP/IP extension used for the distribution, inquiry, retrieval, and posting of news articles on a central database. This program connects to news servers (defined by the user) and will copy and save articles locally so they can be read off line. It makes newsgroup subscription easy and allows you to post articles and receive followups.
