After launching this calendar freeware tool, which is available via Apple’s app store, a small icon is displayed in the menu bar which includes the current date, like Apple’s Calendar icon in the dock. Alternatively the icon can be displayed in grey.

Clicking on the icon opens the current month’s view. Appointments are represented with a colored point according to the preferences for the different calendars. Mousing over a date causes the details to apear in the left-hand pane. Clicking on a date opens a tag allowing you to quickly manage appointments.

This tool lets you browse by calendar month and year. Overall, it provides fast access to appointments with everything clearly displayed. Highly recommended.
