Checkers (or English Draughts) software is much harder to develop than chess softs. The psychology of the opponent is very important in this game – which means that it will be several good years before a checkers game is developped where the machine is “good enough” to beat a human checkers champion. In the mean time, games like Windames, with its rich graphic interface and a choice of different boards, can be used to learn to play checkers. Some bug fixes have been made in this version
